Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tatsuya Kawajiri!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Bartek Pietrzak!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Saam Ante and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pietrzak lands a nice looking body shot.
Pietrzak scores with a push kick.
Kawajiri on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Pietrzak scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Pietrzak misses with a jab to the body
and Kawajiri counters with a big head kick but Pietrzak shrugs it off.
Kawajiri takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
A jab from Pietrzak finds it's way through Kawajiri's defenses.
Kawajiri shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Bartek Pietrzak seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pietrzak lands a leg kick that knocks Kawajiri off balance momentarily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kawajiri walks into a left hand.
Pietrzak lands a right hook to the body.
Pietrzak throws a looping overhand right but Kawajiri ducks down to avoid it.

and Kawajiri counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Kawajiri takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Kawajiri takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Pietrzak, as that shot connected.
Pietrzak throws a head kick that misses
and Kawajiri counters with a stiff right hand.
Pietrzak thows a body shot but no joy.
Pietrzak scores with a crisp jab that stopped Kawajiri in his tracks.

Pietrzak shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pietrzak showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Pietrzak is pressing down on Kawajiri's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kawajiri is holding on for now.
Kawajiri wants to improve his position but Pietrzak is controlling well.
Kawajiri is trying to maintain the position but Pietrzak is very close to passing his half guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pietrzak stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kawajiri swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Pietrzak seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Kawajiri pulls Pietrzak in close to prevent any damage.
Kawajiri looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pietrzak is one step ahead there.

Kawajiri is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kawajiri has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tatsuya Kawajiri wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Pietrzak fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kawajiri looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Pietrzak fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Pietrzak scores with a leg kick.

Pietrzak stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kawajiri swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Pietrzak is stalling here. Kawajiri is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Pietrzak seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Kawajiri has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

The fight stays on the outside here - Pietrzak looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kawajiri avoids the head kick by Pietrzak.
Pietrzak throws a sloppy head kick and Kawajiri moves out of range easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pietrzak loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Pietrzak is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kawajiri sees it coming and defends easily.

Kawajiri is trying to maintain the position but Pietrzak is very close to passing his half guard.
Pietrzak has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Pietrzak stops Kawajiri from getting back to his feet.
Pietrzak moves nicely into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pietrzak wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kawajiri keeps working.

Pietrzak has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kawajiri's face.
Kawajiri gets back to half guard.
Pietrzak uses his free foot to push down on Kawajiri's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kawajiri.
Pietrzak pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Pietrzak lands with an overhand left.
Pietrzak shoots in for a takedown but Kawajiri shows good takedown defense.
Pietrzak throws a head kick but Kawajiri moves out of range.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bartek Pietrzak showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Pietrzak closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kawajiri did well to prevent Pietrzak getting side control.

Well, with Pietrzak on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Kawajiri is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Pietrzak passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Kawajiri!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Pietrzak has hold of Kawajiri's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kawajiri manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Bartek Pietrzak comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Pietrzak has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
