Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thurgood Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ballard Magnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jenkins comes to the cage accompanied by Mary Jane. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jenkins feints and as Magnar raises his hands in defense, Jenkins changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Jenkins tries to free his leg and advance position but Magnar is retaining full guard.

Magnar told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

and Jenkins counters with a shoot takedown. Magnar fights it but they end up in guard.

Jenkins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Magnar swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jenkins thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Magnar takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Magnar.

Magnar lands with a light punch inside.
Magnar breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jenkins slips under a jab.
Magnar misses with a looping left.
Jenkins has a takedown stuffed.
Magnar lands with an overhand left.

A swing and a miss from Magnar.
Magnar throws an overhand right that lands on Jenkins's shoulder, as Jenkins tries to avoid the shot.
Magnar throws a series of punches but Jenkins moves out of range.
Magnar has Jenkins up against the cage in a clinch.
Jenkins has hold of one of Magnar's legs. Magnar is fighting the takedown attempt but Jenkins gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jenkins wants to control from the top but Magnar keeps moving.
Jenkins pushes down on Magnar's leg and manages to get into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jenkins is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Magnar is just riding it out for now. Jenkins eventually gives up the hold.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Magnar connects with a crisp jab.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Jenkins here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Magnar darts in and clinches Jenkins up against the cage.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Jenkins for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.
Jenkins has Magnar pressed against the cage, preventing Magnar from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Magnar prevents the takedown attempt.
Magnar pushes Jenkins back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Jenkins has Magnar pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Jenkins pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Magnar tumbling to the mat - Jenkins dives into Magnar's guard.

Magnar is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jenkins.

Magnar throws out a leg kick but Jenkins moves out of range and Magnar only half commits.
Magnar slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Magnar. Jenkins does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Jenkins counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Magnar's guard now.
Jenkins wants to pass the guard but Magnar is keeping the position.

Magnar can't keep his opponent in guard - Jenkins advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jenkins seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Jenkins looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jenkins in particular looking to stall.
Magnar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jenkins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jenkins is trying to control. Magnar wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Jenkins is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Magnar is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Magnar is looking to control Jenkins's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Magnar avoid being mounted?

Magnar misses with an uppercut. Jenkins saw that one coming.
Magnar throws a series of punches but Jenkins avoids them all with ease.
Magnar uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jenkins.
Magnar avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Magnar might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Magnar tries to bum rush Jenkins with a series of wild strikes but Jenkins uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Jenkins takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Magnar bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Jenkins's head backwards.
Ballard Magnar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

We've been hearing good reports from Jenkins's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Magnar is not content to let Jenkins control the position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jenkins is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Jenkins uses his free foot to push down on Magnar's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Magnar.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jenkins, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
