Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Juan Quan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chance Hoover (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juan Quan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chance Hoover!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoover connects with the punch.

Hoover moves into the clinch.
Hoover throws a punch but it's blocked by Quan.

Quan has clasped his hands together around Hoover's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Hoover is looking to regain half guard here but Quan keeps moving and retains side control.
Hoover is being controlled here.
Quan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Hoover is trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Hoover's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Quan remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Hoover tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Quan wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Hoover is trying to maintain the position but Quan is very close to passing his half guard.

Quan working over Hoover with some ground and pound. Hoover looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Hoover has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Quan is working away from the top position though.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Hoover regains full guard. Nicely done.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hoover lands a jab.

Quan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hoover to the mat! Hoover manages to get full guard.
Quan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Hoover is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Quan controlling from the top position.
Quan is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Hoover looking for a sweep. Not yet Hoover, not yet.
Quan controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hoover is trying to keep Quan in close.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Quan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Hoover wants to clinch up but Quan keeps it at a distance.
Hoover avoids a kick to the body.
Hoover gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Quan counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hoover's guard now.
Hoover is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Quan working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hoover's head.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Juan Quan.
Quan fails with an attempt to clinch.

Quan feints and as Hoover raises his hands in defense, Quan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Quan is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Hoover is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Quan is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Hoover wants to control but Quan is having none of it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hoover is looking to improve his position but Quan isn't that keen on the idea.

Quan could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hoover wants to get back to full guard.

Quan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

We're going to have a standup here because Juan Quan wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Quan fails with a takedown attempt.
Hoover stuffs the takedown attempt from Quan. Quan gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Quan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Quan clinches up against the cage.

Quan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Juan Quan dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Quan checks a leg kick.
Hoover fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Quan is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hoover's half guard.
Quan prevents Hoover from improving his position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Quan wants to pass the guard but Hoover is defending well.
Quan takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Hoover wants to improve his position but Quan is controlling well.
Quan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Quan has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Hoover trying to hold on to Quan's head to control him but Quan postures up.
Quan looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Hoover slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Quan won't allow Hoover to sweep him here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hoover has a takedown stuffed.
Quan fails in his attempt to clinch.
Quan tries for a takedown but Hoover circles away easily
and Hoover counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Juan Quan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hoover bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Quan's head.

Hoover tries to keep at a distance but Quan has taken the fight into the clinch.

Quan manages to break the clinch.

Quan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Quan gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Hoover counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Quan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Quan misses with a body shot.
Quan stuffs the takedown attempt from Hoover. Hoover gets slowly back to his feet.
Hoover leaves Quan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hoover clobbers Quan with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hoover lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Good work by Quan as he checks the leg kick.
Hoover dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Quan throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hoover was covering up waiting for the punch and Quan finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Hoover is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Quan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Quan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hoover has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Quan has managed to get both his arms back between Hoover's legs - danger averted.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Juan Quan.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Quan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
