PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lauri Torni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tam Zeus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Torni might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Gallowbraid - Ashen Eidolon. Zeus has chosen Open Road as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

With a record of 15 - 7 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tam Zeus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zeus misses the body punch
and Torni counters with a thumping low kick.
Torni slips under a jab.
Torni lands a nice shot that snaps Zeus's head back.
Torni with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Zeus jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Torni has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Zeus finds it's way round the side to connect with Torni's head.
Zeus throws out a loose jab but Torni uses good head movement to avoid it.
Zeus on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Zeus is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Torni's half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A lull in the action here as Zeus stalls from top position.

Zeus working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Torni pushes Zeus away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Zeus gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Zeus lands with a cross.
The fighters circling - Zeus throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Some bone on bone action there as Zeus checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Zeus throws a lazy right hand but Torni sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Zeus thows a body shot but no joy.
Zeus takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Zeus slips a jab from Torni.
Zeus scores with a jab. Torni acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Zeus just misses with a punch to the body.
Zeus lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Torni counters with a nice leg kick.
Torni throws a leg kick but Zeus moved away.

Zeus gets a takedown into half guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Torni is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Zeus not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Torni is refusing to be controlled, as Zeus sits in half guard.
Zeus passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Torni!

Zeus lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Torni holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Zeus tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
BOOM! Zeus connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Tam Zeus showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Torni takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Zeus thuds a left hand into Torni's body.
Zeus feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Tornis jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Torni throws a leg kick but Zeus sees it coming and checks it nicely.

and Torni counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Zeus scores with a sloppy right hand. Torni should have avoided that one.
Tam Zeus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zeus throws a lazy right hand but Torni sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Torni lands a right hook to the body.
Zeus throws a jab when Torni was well out of range.
Torni misses with a head kick.
Torni's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Zeus connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Torni scrambles back to his feet.

Zeus connects with a body shot that sends Torni's belly button to the back.

Zeus has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Well Zeus has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
