PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Reno Farar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Louie Lemux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reno Farar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Louie Lemux!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, David Schapiro and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Farar throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Lemux counters with a left and a right that stings Farar.

Lemux fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Farar to the ground. Lemux is now in Farar's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Lemux slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Lemux won't allow Farar to get back to his feet.
Lemux wants to get up but he can't break Farar's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Lemux thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Lemux trying to control but Farar is working from the bottom.
Farar pulls Lemux in close to his closed guard and prevents Lemux from doing any damage or advancing position.
Farar wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Lemux is now in half guard.

Farar keeping hold of Lemux's head, controlling as best he can.
Lemux wants to control but Farar is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lemux prevents Farar from standing back up.
Lemux is keen to just control but Farar is a slippery customer.
Farar is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Lemux seems to be looking for submissions.

Farar wants to get back to full guard but Lemux has passed into side control.
Lemux is looking to take a break and control but Farar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Lemux wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Farar, who protects the arm well.
Lemux is staying tight to Farar's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Farar tries to improve position but can't.

Lemux tries to advance to mount but Farar instead regains half guard.
Farar has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lemux is working away from the top position though.
Lemux not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Lemux seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Lemux wants to pass to mount but Farar is defending the position.

Lemux takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Lemux is nestled in close to Farar, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Lemux throwing shots but Farar is blocking nicely.
Farar controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Lemux content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lemux wants to get back to his feet.

Louie Lemux dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Farar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Lemux is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Farar grinds an elbow into Lemux's temple.
Lemux is not content to let Farar control the position.
Lemux manages to get back to half guard.

Farar trying to work for an americana but Lemux has managed to regain full guard.

Lemux can't keep his opponent in guard - Farar advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Farar wants to pass the guard but Lemux is defending well.
It looks like Farar is going to stand back up.
Farar has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Farar is trying to control here but Lemux has managed to regain half guard.
Farar will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Farar stops Lemux from getting back to his feet.
Farar trying to control the pace.

Lemux tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lemux can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Reno Farar just wasn't active enough.
Farar tries to clinch up.
Lemux changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Farar tries to avoid it but Lemux manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Farar to the ground. Farar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lemux has his takedown stuffed

and Farar holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Farar has had enough of the clinch but Lemux keeps him there for the moment.
Farar has Lemux pressed against the cage, preventing Lemux from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Lemux's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Farar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Lemux can't do much from the bottom here.
Lemux is breathing heavily.
Lemux is trying to get back to half guard.

Farar trying to control the action but Lemux is working from the bottom.
The referee asks Farar politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Farar prefers to stall for the moment though.
Lemux wants to control but Farar postures up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Farar wants to control but Lemux is keeping him busy.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Farar is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lemux has escaped the position, nice work there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Reno Farar dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Lemux shoots in and drives through. Farar sprawls well.
Farar tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lemux swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Nice body kick from Farar.

Lemux fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Farar, pushing him back against the cage.

Farar lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Lemux tries to roll over but Farar keeps him under control.
Farar is trying to control. Lemux wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Farar wants to pass the guard but Lemux is defending well.
Farar is controlling the pace.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Farar tries to pass the half guard into mount. Lemux knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Reno Farar wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Farar fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lemux avoids it really well and circles away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Farar gets a double leg takedown into Lemux's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Lemux has his foot on Farar's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Farar works his way back into a safe position though.

Lemux had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Farar defends it easily.

Lemux is looking for a triangle but Farar pushes his legs off easily.
Farar seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Lemux is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Farar defends well.

Lemux can't keep his opponent in guard - Farar advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Farar really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Farar works his foot free and advances to mount.
Lemux really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Farar is looking to stand but Farar has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Lemux tries to lock up and control but Farar gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Farar wants to finish this one by submission but Lemux is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Farar.
A nice elbow there by Farar.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Farar looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Farar looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

And that's the end of the fight!
Reno Farar showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Farar has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
