PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mees Metsast (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tong Po (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tong Po told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Jeff Smith and Ryoma Takatsuka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Po clinches up with Metsast and pushes him back against the cage.
Po stalls.
A left hand lands to the body for Po.
Metsast is trying to force a seperation but Po has the dominant position.
Po lands an elbow that stopped Metsast in his tracks for a moment.

Po's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Po rushes Metsast and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Metsast is looking to control Po's arms but Po gets an underhook and turns him. Now Metsast has his back to the cage.

Po postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Po throwing strikes but Metsast manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Po tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Tong Po is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Po takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Po misses with a head shot. Metsast uses the momentum to regain guard.
Metsast is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Po can do anything to dispel that myth.

Metsast tries to bum rush Po with a series of wild strikes but Po uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Po shoots in but no luck this time.
Po shoots in for a double leg but Metsast sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mees Metsast has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tong Po.
Metsast fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Po has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Po takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
A nice leg kick lands there from Metsast.
