Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Dean Rockefeller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hideo Kono (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rockefeller comes to the cage accompanied by Kreator - Violent Revolution. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hideo Kono!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, William Gold and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kono lands the left hand.


It looks like James Dean Rockefeller has been cut.
Rockefeller lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Kono bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Rockefeller's head backwards.
Rockefeller looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Kono lands a slapping body shot.
Kono tries to bum rush Rockefeller with a series of wild strikes but Rockefeller uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kono throws a half hearted mid kick.
Hideo Kono seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kono misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kono slips a jab and a cross from Rockefeller.
Kono paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Rockefeller fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kono manages to avoid it.
Rockefeller keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kono.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kono. Rockefeller does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kono throws a jab but it's blocked by Rockefeller.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kono is doing well to control the position and prevent Rockefeller from advancing to side control.
Kono felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Hideo Kono hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Rockefeller moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Rockefeller takes a swing at Kono's ribcage but misses.
Rockefeller is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kono.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Kono takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Kono throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A lazy left from Rockefeller finds it's target.
Rockefeller fails in his attempt to clinch.
A telegraphed right hand from Kono misses the target.
Rockefeller connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kono momentarily.
Kono tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Kono will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Kono is rocked!
Rockefeller cracks Kono with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Kono tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Rockefeller pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Kono is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

After winning the bout, James Dean Rockefeller thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
