Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Rutten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Alvez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Rutten!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chuck Alvez!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rutten stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Alvez.
Rutten ducks under a wild hook from Alvez.
Alvez misses with a hook.
A swing and a miss from Alvez.
Rutten fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Rutten tries for a takedown but Alvez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rutten throws a combination. Alvez tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Chuck Alvez has been cut.
A slow jab from Alvez misses its intended target.
Rutten closes this distance looking for a takedown but Alvez circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Rutten. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Alvez throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Rutten throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Alvez's waist but Alvez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rutten off to one side.

The fighters circling - Alvez throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Alvez dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Rutten. That did some damage!

Alvez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rutten, pushing him back against the cage.

Alvez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Alvez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Alvez scores with the left hand. Rutten knows he should have avoided that one.

Alvez looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Rutten is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Alvez pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Alvez has control of Rutten's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rutten regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Alvez avoids the attempt from Rutten to control.

Alvez jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Rutten manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Rutten tries for a takedown but Alvez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Alvez throws out a loose jab but Rutten uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Rutten counters with a stiff right hand.
Rutten really is a fat lump.
Rutten blocks a head kick by Alvez.
Rutten tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alvez paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Rutten counters with a one-two to the body.

Alvez shoots in for a double leg but Rutten sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rutten shoots in looking for a takedown. Alvez tries to sprawl out of it but Rutten keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Alvez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Alvez throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Rutten connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Rutten shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Alvez is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Rutten has managed to free his arm - good work.

Alvez takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Alvez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Chuck Alvez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Alvez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
