The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Godine throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rakic tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Godine is in Rakic's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Godine controls from within his opponent's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rakic can do anything to dispel that myth.
Godine throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Godine showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Godine is in close to Rakic's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Godine trying to control the position from guard on top but Rakic is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jebac Godine wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Godine gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Rakic connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

It looks like Jebac Godine has been cut.
Rakic stuffs the takedown attempt from Godine. Godine gets slowly back to his feet.
Rakic changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

and Rakic cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jebac Godine. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rakic scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Godine pivots, looking for a leg kick but Rakic is out of range and Godine settles back down.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Rakic counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Both fighters circle each other, looking for something big. Rakic moves in and throws an overhand right. That hurt Godine! Rakic continues to tee off on Godine, landing with a left and a right! Rakic connects with a right hand that leaves Godine sleeping against the cage! What a finish by Rakic!
