Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 37 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hector Cabrera!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 9 - 2, fighting out of London, Domingo Perez!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, William Gold and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perez fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cabrera manages to avoid it.
Perez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Cabrera looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Perez fails with an attempt to clinch.
Perez smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Cabrera waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Perez.
Perez throws a head kick but Cabrera moves out of range.
Perez thows a leg kick but Cabrera checks it

and Cabrera counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Cabrera working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Perez's head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cabrera trying to control the position from guard on top but Perez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Perez keeping full guard, as Cabrera tries to pass.
Cabrera sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Perez's guard.
Cabrera tries to pass to full mount but Perez defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Perez keeping hold of Cabrera's head, controlling as best he can.
Cabrera is pressing down on Perez's thigh, looking to free his foot. Perez is holding on for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Perez trying to control here.
Cabrera wants to control but Perez is keeping him busy.

Perez manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Perez has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Perez checks a low kick from Cabrera.
Perez does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Cabrera avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Cabrera fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Cabrera fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Perez manages to avoid it.
Cabrera looks to land a body kick but Perez moved away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Perez shoots in and bounces Cabrera off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Cabrera working for a triangle but Perez defends it easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cabrera working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Perez.
Cabrera trying to keep a closed guard but Perez is proving a slippery customer.
Perez tries to free his leg and advance position but Cabrera is retaining full guard.
Cabrera controls Perez momentarily but Perez frees himself.
Perez is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Cabrera keeping moving, preventing Perez from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Perez's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Domingo Perez wasn't active enough on the ground.
A looping hook to the body misses from Perez. Cabrera does a little dance to reset his feet.
Perez throws a leg kick

and Cabrera decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Perez's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cabrera accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Perez is trying to keep Cabrera in close.

Perez has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Cabrera doesn't defend quickly enough and Perez has managed to lock this one up! Can Cabrera escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Perez on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Domingo Perez!
