PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shane Doby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kid Kamakazi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Doby might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to International Players Anthem. Kamakazi is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Cooking by the book. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shane Doby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Kid Kamakazi!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Roosa Järviläinen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doby tries to clinch
and Kamakazi counters with a nice body kick.
Kamakazi fails to land with a series of punches.
Some bone on bone action there as Kamakazi checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Kamakazi fakes the leg kick and cracks Doby in the body.
Kamakazi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Doby.
Doby throws a leg kick which misses Kamakazi's front leg but catches the back leg as Kamakazi tries to avoid it.
Doby shoots in looking for a takedown. Kamakazi tries to sprawl out of it but Doby keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kamakazi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Doby clobbers Kamakazi with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Doby shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kamakazi defends it nicely.

Doby has managed to clinch.
Doby wants to break free but Kamakazi has control.

Kamakazi tries to throw a body punch but Doby avoids it by throwing Kamakazi back against the cage.
Kamakazi throws a head punch that misses.
Kamakazi lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Doby is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kamakazi pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shane Doby. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kamakazi tries to bum rush Doby with a series of wild strikes but Doby uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Doby is on top in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Doby accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Kamakazi is staying active underneath Doby, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
