PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aaron OHarra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think OHarra might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to I'm Not Afriad. Tim Armstrong acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aaron OHarra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tim Armstrong!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Armstrong drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
OHarra can't do much from the bottom here.
Armstrong trying to control the action but OHarra is working from the bottom.
Armstrong tries to move into full mount but can't pass OHarra's legs.

Armstrong is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but OHarra is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Armstrong wants to lay and pray for a moment but OHarra keeps working.

Armstrong in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Armstrong really doesn't want to stay on the ground with OHarra. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
You can see the frustration on OHarra's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Armstrong is looking to take a break and control but OHarra is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Armstrong wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by OHarra, who protects the arm well.

OHarra takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Armstrong is chipping away with strikes.
OHarra manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Armstrong is trying to control. OHarra wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Armstrong is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Armstrong is sneakily working for an arm triangle but OHarra sees it coming and defends easily.
OHarra is controlling Armstrong's trapped leg to prevent Armstrong from advancing to side control.
Armstrong stalling away here and it's allowed OHarra to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Armstrong closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Armstrong lands in his opponent's guard.
OHarra wants to stand but Armstrong is controlling the position.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Armstrong wants to stand and escape but instead OHarra has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
OHarra is looking to work some ground and pound but Armstrong has wrist control.

Tim Armstrong showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OHarra throws a nice looking combination but Armstrong bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Let's hope that Armstrong has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Aaron OHarra has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Armstrong lands a big shot there that rocks OHarra but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Armstrong. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Well Armstrong has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
