The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jacobs fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Washington sprawls well initially but Jacobs persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Jacobs is looking for a kimura but Washington is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jacobs to get the leverage.

Jacobs is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Washington is just riding it out for now. Jacobs eventually gives up the hold.

Washington is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jacobs pulls his head out easily.

Washington escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jacobs gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Washington working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jacobs doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Washington is tightening it up a little... Jacobs has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Jacobs reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Jacobs taps out! Nice BJJ there by Washington !
