The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palhares tries to move into range but Fittz moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Palhares misses with a takedown attempt - Fittz sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A left and a right from Fittz both land. Nice combination.

Palhares shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Palhares was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Palhares is trying to get an arm triangle but Fittz is defending well.

Palhares goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Fittz rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Palhares's guard! Nice work there by Fittz!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Palhares is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Palhares has his foot on Fittz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fittz works his way back into a safe position though.

Palhares escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fittz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Palhares throws his legs up looking for a submission but Fittz uses it to pass to side control.

Palhares tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Fittz tries to stand but Palhares is controlling his head.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Fittz decides to stand back up.

Palhares bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Fittz wants to control but Palhares postures up.

Palhares thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Palhares tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Fittz tries to improve position but can't.

Palhares goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Fittz has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Palhares but great work by Fittz.
Fittz wants to stand but Palhares is controlling his arm.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Palhares is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Fittz off and has taken his back!
Palhares scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.

Palhares is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Fittz defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Palhares is persistently looking for the submission but Fittz is defending it well.

Dominickoy Palhares spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
