PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fireman Sam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Don (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fireman Sam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Don Don!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sam takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.


It looks like Fireman Sam has been cut.
Don lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Don throws out a powerful jab.
Sam throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Don sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Don looks to score with a jab to the body but Sam is just out of range.

Sam fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Don to the ground. Sam is now in Don's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Don is looking for a triangle but Sam pushes his legs off easily.
Sam wants to pass the guard but Don is keeping the position.

Don had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sam defends it easily.
Sam stands up over Don, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Don has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Sam is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Don.

Sam tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sam trying to control the action but Don is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Don sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Sam trying to pass the guard but Don defending well.

Don is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sam pulls his head out easily.
Sam thows a huge punch but Don dodges it nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sam controlling the action here.

Don looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Don is looking for a sweep. Sam is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Don is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Don looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Don looking for submissions off his back.

Sam wants to advance to full mount but Don doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Sam trying to control the position from guard on top but Don is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sam pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Don is keeping the position for now.

Don can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sam controls the pace.

Sam is looking to work some ground and pound but Don has wrist control.

Don is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Sam has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Don has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sam can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Don is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sam wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Don Don dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Fireman Sam's cut.
That's time! Sam's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Don lands a nice hook to Sam's body. Sam takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Don dips to his left and cracks Sam with an uppercut!
Don slips under a jab.
Don swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Sam.
Don lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Sam drops his hands momentarily and Don takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Don gets tackled into the cage by Sam. Sam maintains the clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Don is trying to push Sam away but Sam has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Sam turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Sam manages to end up in side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Don is looking for a sweep.
Don trying to control but Sam flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Sam struggling to keep hold of the position.

Sam tightening his grip on Don, looking for the choke.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A lull in the action here.

Sam is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Don has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sam is hanging on to Don's back as he tries to escape.
Don trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Don wants to escape the position.
Sam is trying to stick to Don's back but Don is turning into Sam. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Sam's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Don.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Don looking to sit in guard and control but Sam gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Don working for a triangle but Sam defends it easily.
Don Don has got the better of the ground game so far.
Don wants to sweep here but Sam controlling him for the moment.

Don is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sam defends well.

Don has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Sam doesn't defend quickly enough and Don has managed to lock this one up! Can Sam escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Don on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Don Don!
