Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marc Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tobias Funke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thomas's entrance music is Cock Rider by Stompin Dick Connors. A fine choice. Funke is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Disturbed - Glass Shatters. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Nice sprawl there from Thomas as Funke shoots in.
Thomas is looking to clinch.
Thomas tries to clinch but Funke moves out of range.

Funke gets a clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Thomas.

It looks like Tobias Funke has been cut.

Funke manages to break the clinch.

Thomas moves into range and clinches up with Funke.

Funke has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Thomas is trying to keep an underhook but Funke manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Funke is looking to take a break and control but Thomas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Thomas wants to improve his position but Funke is controlling well.
Thomas gets back to full guard.

Thomas is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Funke gets to his feet. Thomas looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Thomas closes the distance but Funke moves to the side

and Funke counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Thomas's guard now.
Funke passes into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Thomas makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Thomas.
Funke won't allow Thomas to sweep him here.
Funke wants to control from the top but Thomas keeps moving.
Thomas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Funke has hold of Thomas's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Thomas tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Funke cranks the arm and Thomas screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Thomas, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
