Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ramon Monzon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Landen Connell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Connell has chosen Ain't No Rest for The Wicked as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monzon looks for a takedown but Connell sprawls well.
Monzon shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Connell but Connell pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Connell holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Monzon throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Connell's waist but Connell gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Monzon off to one side.

Connell thows a huge punch but Monzon dodges it nicely.

Connell postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Monzon to stand up.

Monzon might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Connell shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Connell was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Connell stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Connell closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Connell throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Monzon shoots in but Connell avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Monzon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Connell sprawls well. Connell wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Monzon gets slowly back to his feet.

Horrible takedown by Connell or perhaps it was just good defense by Monzon which made him look bad.
Monzon shoots in looking for a takedown. Connell tries to sprawl out of it but Monzon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Connell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Monzon shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Connell but Connell pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Connell's corner calls for a 1-2. Connell obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Connell tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Monzon manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Connell stuffs the takedown attempt from Monzon. Monzon gets slowly back to his feet.

and Connell moves into the clinch.
Connell lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Monzon backwards.
Monzon is looking for a takedown.
Connell works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Connell ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Connell no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Connell bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Monzon's guard.
Monzon is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Connell is controlling him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nice takedown defense from Connell. No joy for Monzon on that attempt.

Connell lands a huge takedown. Monzon is out but the ref is slow to react and Connell lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Monzon lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
