Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jose Alonso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Kermodian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kermodian is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Arctic Monkeys - Mardy Bum. Jose Alonso could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Mark Kermodian's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jose Alonso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 31 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Kermodian!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Paulo Santos and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alonso shoots for a double leg takedown but Kermodian sprawls well. He's pushed Alonso's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Alonso gets caught flat footed, as Kermodian shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mark Kermodian hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Kermodian throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Alonso on the side of the head.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Alonso tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Alonso has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kermodian is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Alonso stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kermodian swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kermodian bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alonso's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Alonso's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Kermodian feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well Kermodian has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
