PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chace Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nic Caswell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hawk's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Dream On. Nic Caswell told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chace Hawk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nic Caswell!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawk clinches.
Hawk drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Caswell gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Nice elbow from Hawk.
It looks like Nic Caswell has been cut.
Hawk keeps control of Caswell as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Hawk breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hawk instigates a clinch.
Hawk tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Caswell smiles and moves away.
Caswell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hawk shoots in and bounces Caswell off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hawk lands a couple of digs.
Caswell wants to stand but Hawk is controlling the position.
Caswell had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hawk is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Caswell Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hawk's back instead.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Caswell working for a choke but Hawk is defending well.
Hawk just trying to survive but Caswell is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Caswell is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Hawk defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Caswell throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
Hawk defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Caswell's arms.
Hawk holding both Caswell 's hands and preventing any damage.
Hawk rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hawk keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Caswell tries to stand and escape but Hawk is controlling the position.
Hawk gets back to full guard.
Caswell lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Caswell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hawk is proving hard to escape from.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hawk is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Caswell wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Hawk's closed guard. He's half up but Hawk has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Hawk pivots and extends the arm, Caswell falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Hawk! Well done that man!
