Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Daniel Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rocky Roberts!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roberts shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jackson defends it nicely.
Jackson slaps away a takedown attempt from Roberts, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Roberts shoots in for a takedown but Jackson shows good takedown defense.
Daniel Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rocky Roberts.
Roberts throws a leg kick but Jackson sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Roberts rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jackson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jackson connects with a good right hand that stumbles Roberts. Roberts circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Roberts tries to clinch up but Jackson circles away and keeps his distance.

Roberts takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

A right-left combo lands from Jackson.
Jackson keeps the fight on the outside.
Jackson looks to land a combination but Roberts avoids it well.
Jackson scores with a crisp jab that stopped Roberts in his tracks.
Jackson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Roberts circles away quickly and effectively.
Daniel Jackson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jackson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Roberts.

and Roberts counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Roberts on the ground.

Roberts wants to control the pace but Jackson is squirming around nicely.
Jackson wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Roberts.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roberts lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Jackson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Roberts has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Roberts with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Jackson is working to get back to half guard.

Roberts pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Jackson is trying desperately to improve position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jackson is trying to reverse the position but instead Roberts has taken his back - oops!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Jackson leaves Roberts with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jackson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jackson misses with a series of wild punches.
Roberts avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Roberts avoids a punch combination nicely.
Roberts wants to clinch
and Jackson counters with a three punch combo that has Roberts backing up. Roberts nods at Jackson to acknowledge the strikes.
Roberts is looking to land body kicks.
Jackson misses with a two punch combination.
Jackson smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Roberts will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Roberts moves in looking to clinch but Jackson pushes him off.
Roberts misses with a few strikes there.
Roberts fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jackson avoids it really well and circles away.

Daniel Jackson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Roberts throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jackson's waist but Jackson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Roberts off to one side.
Jackson's jab looks to have found its range, popping Roberts under the eye.
Jackson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Roberts tries to pull guard but Jackson holds him up against the cage and eventually Roberts drops back down to his feet.

Roberts is trying to trip Jackson. He has hold of a leg but Jackson is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Roberts persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Jackson wants to sweep but no luck.
Jackson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jackson tries to get out of the position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Roberts is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Jackson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Roberts stands and throws Jackson's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Jackson gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackson tries to lock up and control but Roberts gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Roberts takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jackson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Roberts won't let Jackson get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Jackson tries to control Roberts's body but Roberts pushes him off. Jackson squirms to his side and now Roberts has his back!
Jackson is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Daniel Jackson will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Roberts closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jackson circles away.
Roberts changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jackson tries to avoid it but Roberts manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jackson to the ground. Jackson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Roberts. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Jackson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

No joy there for Jackson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jackson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jackson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Jackson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Robertss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Jackson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Roberts to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Roberts tries to stand but Jackson is controlling from the bottom.
Jackson wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Roberts is now in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Roberts not doing much here.
Roberts frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Roberts raining down hammerfists from mount.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Roberts is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Jackson has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Roberts avoids the attempt from Jackson to control.
Roberts looking to control but Jackson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Jackson tries to lock up and control but Roberts gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Roberts takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rocky Roberts comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Roberts has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
