Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Rooney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nadi Tsunami (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Rooney might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Belfast Boy. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nadi Tsunami!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Paul Tew and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rooney misses with a series of wild punches.

Ryan Rooney seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rooney displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tsunami.
Rooney shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tsunami as he jumps to the side.

Rooney is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Tsunami's half guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Ryan Rooney will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Rooney throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Rooney throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Rooney feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Tsunami is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Rooney has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Horrible takedown by Rooney or perhaps it was just good defense by Tsunami which made him look bad.

Tsunami fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Rooney to the ground. Tsunami is now in Rooney's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Rooney counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Rooney closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Tsunami quickly recovers to half guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tsunami bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rooney's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tsunami stays in close to Rooney's body and controls the position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nadi Tsunami showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Rooney tries to close the distance and clinch but Tsunami swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Rooney shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Tsunami pinned against the cage. Tsunami gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Tsunami shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Tsunami was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Tsunami staying calm.
Tsunami is looking to take a break and control but Rooney is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Tsunami might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rooney haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Tsunami is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rooney knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Nadi Tsunami hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
