Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kogata Munoz!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jesus Jones!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Richard Clark and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones misses with a wild body shot.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Jones.
The fighters circle momentarily. Jones darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Jones missing with a left hand there. Munoz was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
We've been told by Munoz's head coaches at Dark Horse MMA Academy that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Munoz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jones sprawls well initially but Munoz persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Munoz wants to pass the guard but Jones is defending well.

Munoz is just content to waste time from the top position. Jones takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Jones tries to buck Munoz off but Munoz is having none of it.

Munoz is staying tight to Jones's torso, preventing him from escaping.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Munoz misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jones.

Munoz shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jones is trying to defend but Munoz finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Munoz is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Munoz postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kogata Munoz dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Munoz ducks under a wild hook from Jones.
Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Munoz tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Munoz to the ground. Munoz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jones turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Jones connects with the punch.
Munoz fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Munoz.

Munoz decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Munoz prevents Jones from improving his position.
Munoz is controlling the pace.
Jones is trying to get back to full guard.

Munoz lands strikes from half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Jones is trying to control but can't.
Munoz moves into full mount! Jones won't be happy about that!
Jones is working to get back to half guard.
Munoz controlling the pace for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Munoz lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Jones is bucking up trying to escape but Munoz cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jones keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Jones is rocked!
Munoz cracks Jones with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kogata Munoz!
Kogata Munoz retains his lightweight title!
After winning the bout, Kogata Munoz thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
