PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jay Garrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Khalil Zidane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zidane has chosen Tool - Jimmy as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garrick keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Garrick closes this distance looking for a takedown but Zidane circles away.
Zidane lands with an uppercut that bounces Garrick off the cage and back into range.
Garrick looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Zidane is fending him off so far but Garrick persists. Nope, Zidane circles away and we're back to standing.
Good leg kick by Zidane there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Garrick stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Zidane.
A looping hook to the body misses from Zidane. Garrick does a little dance to reset his feet.
Zidane takes a swing at Garrick's ribcage but misses.
Zidane slaps away a takedown attempt from Garrick, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Garrick. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jay Garrick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Garrick closes the distance and clinches up with Zidane, looking for a takedown. Garrick pushes Zidane against the cage but Zidane circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Garrick takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Garrick shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Garrick was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Garrick is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Zidane frees his head nicely. Oh but Garrick has switched to an armbar! Zidane is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Jay Garrick really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Blood Bank ($10) logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
