PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between George Huang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hanz Stokenhizer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Huang comes to the cage accompanied by Special Agent Huang. Stokenhizer comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Lucky Bullets "Cross the Line" kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! George Huang had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 136.1lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, George Huang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 27 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hanz Stokenhizer!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stokenhizer throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Huang.
Huang looks to land a combination but Stokenhizer avoids it well.
Huang will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Huang will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Huang throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Stokenhizer was covering up waiting for the punch and Huang finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stokenhizer can do anything to dispel that myth.

Huang looking to sit in guard and control but Stokenhizer gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

It looks like Stokenhizer might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Huang wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Stokenhizer manages to pass to side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Huang is trying to escape back to his feet but Stokenhizer uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Huang manages to work his way to half guard, despite Stokenhizer's best efforts.

You get the feeling that Huang really doesn't like being in this position too much.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Huang throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Stokenhizer sees it coming and avoids it easily.
George Huang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Huang shoots in for a takedown but Stokenhizer shows good takedown defense.
Stokenhizer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Huang gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Huang is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Stokenhizer to keep the fight standing.
Huang is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Huang. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Huang tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Stokenhizer smiles and moves away.

Huang lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Stokenhizer circles away quickly and effectively.
George Huang is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Huang shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Huang throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Stokenhizer throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Huang.
Stokenhizer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Stokenhizer wants it to stay on the feet.
Horrible takedown by Huang or perhaps it was just good defense by Stokenhizer which made him look bad.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Huang changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Stokenhizer fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Stokenhizer keeps control of Huang as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Huang is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Huang jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Stokenhizer walks away with a smile on his face. Huang gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Huang will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Huang tries to score a body lock takedown but Stokenhizer shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Some bone on bone action there as Stokenhizer checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Huang looks to land a combination but Stokenhizer avoids it well.
Huang misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Stokenhizer creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Stokenhizer tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Huang tries for a takedown. No joy.
Huang drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Stokenhizer gets the underhooks and prevents it.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Stokenhizer counters with a head kick. That will keep Huang thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Huang jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Stokenhizer walks away with a smile on his face. Huang gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Stokenhizer counters with a body kick.
Stokenhizer throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


It looks like George Huang has been cut.
Stokenhizer slaps away a takedown attempt from Huang, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Huang. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Huang looks for a takedown but Stokenhizer sprawls well.

Huang throws a wild body kick that Stokenhizer sees coming a mile off.

Huang clinches up with Stokenhizer and pushes him back against the cage.
Huang wants to get back to striking at distance but Stokenhizer won't allow it.
Huang has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Stokenhizer after a bit of a struggle.

Huang looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Stokenhizer has picked Huang up and slammed him! Huang can't keep hold of the triangle and Stokenhizer manages to pass to side control!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Stokenhizer is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Stokenhizer not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Huang looking for a sweep. Not yet Huang, not yet.
Stokenhizer content to stall in guard here.
Stokenhizer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Huang. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Hanz Stokenhizer was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Well Huang has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
