The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stewart misses with a takedown attempt - Mayhem sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Stewart tries to clinch up.
A left and a right from Stewart both land. Nice combination.

It looks like Gabriel Mayhem has been cut.

Mayhem gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Stewart throws a big right hand that misses.
Mayhem avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mayhem is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Stewart is aware though and is defending well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Stewart is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Mayhem is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Nick Stewart just wasn't active enough.
Mayhem avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mayhem shoots in but Stewart avoids the takedown attempt easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mayhem looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Stewart fails in his attempt to clinch.
Mayhem wants to clinch up but Stewart keeps it at a distance.
