Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Canadian Hero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tom Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hero circles away from the clinch attempt

and Hero counters with a shoot takedown. Thomas fights it but they end up in guard.

Hero drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hero jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hero thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Hero is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Hero not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Hero trying to control but Thomas is working from the bottom.
Hero advances to half guard.
Hero wants to take a breather but Thomas is having none of it.

Hero is working for a submission of some sort.

Thomas wants to get back to full guard.

Hero is working for a kimura but Thomas is defending it quite comfortably.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hero lands a nice short elbow.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Thomas is looking for a sweep. Hero is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Thomas won't allow Hero to pass to mount.
Hero with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Hero looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hero is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Hero looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Hero takes Thomas's back.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hero tries to keep control of the position but Thomas is staying busy.

Hero has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Thomas is in real trouble here. Hero gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Thomas is tapping out! Hero wins by rear naked choke!
