PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Van (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jayne Cobb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Gabriel Van!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Jayne Cobb!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Glass and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cobb as he jumps to the side.
A punch combination from Cobb misses.
Cobb scores with a jab.
Van shoots in but Cobb avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Van fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gabriel Van. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cobb keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Van takes one to the side of the head.

Van drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Cobb controlling Van's posture.
Van stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cobb swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Van sitting in guard here, content to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cobb working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Van.
Van wants to control from the top but Cobb keeps moving.
Cobb is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Van trying to control but Cobb is working from the bottom.
Cobb is trying to control the position but Van postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cobb keeps the fight on the outside.
Van really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cobb misses with a looping right.
Cobb throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Cobb misses with a looping right.
A combination from Cobb does no damage.
Van fails with an attempt to clinch.
Danga de danga de dang - Van scores with a four punch combination!
Cobb takes a swing at Van's ribcage but misses.
Van is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cobb.
Cobb throws a leg kick but Van sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Cobb scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Van moves out of range of the strikes.
Cobb pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Van darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Van will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Van takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Van is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cobb is trying to control but can't.
Cobb controlling the position well.
Van trying to pass the guard but Cobb defending well.
Cobb is looking to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Cobb trying to hold on to Van's head to control him but Van postures up.
Van is controlling the pace.
Cobb is pressing down on Van's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Cobb pushes Van off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jayne Cobb dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


The fight stays on the outside here - Van looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Van misses with a jab to the body
and Cobb counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


It looks like Gabriel Van has been cut.
Cobb throws an overhand right that lands on Van's shoulder, as Van tries to avoid the shot.
Van takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Cobb works the jab nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Cobb throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Van sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A big right from Cobb misses.
Van ducks under a wild hook from Cobb.
Van closes the distance looking to clinch
and Cobb counters with a straight right hand.


Van is rocked!
Cobb misses with a straight left.
Cobb throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Cobb stuffs the takedown.
Van checks the leg kick.
A big left from Cobb misses.
Cobb lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Van can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Cobb and Van drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Cobb.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jayne Cobb!
