Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pickett moves in looking to clinch but McWhorter pushes him off.

Pickett looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for McWhorter!
McWhorter keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Pickett tries to control but McWhorter wriggling away.
McWhorter is trying desperately to improve position.

Pickett swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and McWhorter is now in Pickett's guard. A big mistake from Pickett there, giving up the dominant position!
McWhorter wants to pass the guard but Pickett is keeping the position.
McWhorter wants to control from the top but Pickett keeps moving.

McWhorter avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McWhorter thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

McWhorter is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Pickett is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Pickett has escaped and now he's on top!
McWhorter tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Pickett trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Pickett is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Pickett is looking to stand up but McWhorter won't let him.

McWhorter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pickett can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
McWhorter looks gassed!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
McWhorter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pickett doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pickett manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Pickett stands and throws McWhorter's legs to the side, diving into side control.

You can see the frustration on McWhorter's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Pickett shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pickett showed some decent athleticism there.

Pickett stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows McWhorter to get to his feet.
Pickett throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

McWhorter shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Pickett counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Pickett is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Pickett prevents McWhorter from improving his position.

McWhorter looking for submissions off his back.
McWhorter is looking to control Pickett's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can McWhorter avoid being mounted?
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Trey Pickett dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


McWhorter has his takedown stuffed

and Pickett counters with a nice double leg into side control. McWhorter won't be happy with that.
McWhorter trying to control but Pickett flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Trey Pickett overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McWhorter is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Pickett gets his way!
I really don't envy McWhorter right now.
Pickett tries to keep control of the position but McWhorter is staying busy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McWhorter tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Pickett is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but McWhorter is surviving well by controlling Pickett's body position as best he can.

Pickett goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now McWhorter is on top in guard.
McWhorter forces his way into half guard.
Pickett tries to get to full guard but McWhorter has control of the leg.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
McWhorter thows a huge punch but Pickett dodges it nicely.
McWhorter stops Pickett from getting back to his feet.
Pickett wants to get back to full guard.

McWhorter looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Pickett looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Pickett is trying to stand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
McWhorter shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Pickett counters with a shoot takedown. McWhorter fights it but they end up in guard.
Pickett not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

McWhorter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pickett doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but McWhorter is tightening it up a little... Pickett has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Pickett reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Pickett taps out! nice BJJ there by McWhorter!
