The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for VanVactor. That snapped Rivera's head back.
Rivera throws a leg kick that misses.
VanVactor throws the left hand but Rivera avoids the punch easily.

VanVactor throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
VanVactor throws a lazy uppercut
and Rivera counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. VanVactor is lucky that one didn't land flush.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
VanVactor misses with a lunging right hand
and Rivera counters with a stiff right hand.
Rivera throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
VanVactor shoots for a takedown but Rivera saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Rivera, right into the meat.
Rivera tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Rivera tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. VanVactor manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

VanVactor takes a swing at Rivera's ribcage but misses.
Rivera rushes VanVactor and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Rivera pushes off an throws an elbow but VanVactor leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Rivera, as that shot connected.
VanVactor tries for a takedown but Rivera sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
VanVactor misses with a takedown attempt - Rivera sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Jab, jab by Rivera - just one landing.

and Rivera counters with a good low kick that VanVactor was not able to check.
Junior Rivera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

VanVactor throws a right hand that misses
and Rivera connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
VanVactor avoids the head kick by Rivera.
VanVactor swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A combination from VanVactor does no damage.
VanVactor shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rivera pinned against the cage. Rivera gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

VanVactor has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Rivera.
VanVactor shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rivera but Rivera pushes him off and we're back to square one.

VanVactor looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rivera is one step ahead there.
VanVactor escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rivera gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
VanVactor pulls Rivera in close to his closed guard and prevents Rivera from doing any damage or advancing position.
Jake VanVactor has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Junior Rivera spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
