PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bv Rasp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cup Tea (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Bv Rasp has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Bv Rasp seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cup Tea!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tea throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Tea avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Rasp has closed the distance and engaged Tea in a clinch.
Tea avoiding damage.
Tea scores with a shoulder strike.
Tea is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Rasp using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Tea has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Tea digs a right hand underneath Rasp's ribcage. Rasp let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Rasp tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Tea avoids it.

Tea escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rasp fails with a takedown attempt.
A telegraphed right hand from Tea misses the target.

Rasp looks to score with a jab to the body but Tea is just out of range.
Rasp lands a really nice looking cross but Tea seems unphased.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Tea enables Rasp to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Tea manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Rasp stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tea swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rasp trying to control but Tea is working from the bottom.
Rasp passes into half guard.
Tea has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rasp is working away from the top position though.
Tea is trying to stand back up but Rasp is controlling him
Tea tries to roll over but Rasp keeps him under control.

Tea moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Tea is trying to keep Rasp in close.

Tea looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Tea wants to stand but Rasp is controlling the position.
Rasp throwing strikes but missing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rasp trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rasp postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Rasp stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tea swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Tea wants to get back to his feet but Rasp is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bv Rasp wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Rasp misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Rasp dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Tea looks to land a right hand but Rasp moved out of range.
Rasp shoots for a takedown but Tea saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bv Rasp. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rasp tries to clinch up.
Tea connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Tea throws a big shot that misses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tea displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rasp throws out the jab.
Rasp tries to clinch but Tea is having none of it.

That was a close round but I would say that Bv Rasp will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Tea takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Tea misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rasp.
Rasp keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Tea throws a front kick aimed at Rasp's knee but Rasp avoids it well.
Rasp's corner calls for a 1-2. Rasp obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Rasp throws a left and a right that both miss
and Tea counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Rasp fails with the takedown
and Tea counters with a three punch combo that has Rasp backing up. Rasp nods at Tea to acknowledge the strikes.
Rasp fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Tea stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Tea wants it to stay on the feet.

Rasp moves to clinch but Tea breaks away
letting Tea counter with a right hand.

Rasp shoots in and gets a takedown into Tea's guard.

Rasp distracts Tea with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Rasp postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rasp accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Rasp working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Tea seems keen to control Rasp's posture.
Tea wants to get back to his feet but Rasp is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bv Rasp overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Tea is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Cup Tea hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Rasp misses with a straight left.
Bv Rasp is winning the standup battle so far.
Rasp looks to score with a jab to the body but Tea is just out of range.

Rasp shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Tea tries a low kick but Rasp avoids it.

Tea moves into range and connects with a jab.
Rasp lands with an overhand left.

Tea blocks the body kick.
Tea throws a hook to the side of Rasp's head but Rasp sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rasp is defended easily by Tea.
Tea swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Rasp looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rasp fails with a takedown attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rasp dives in and grabs Tea's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tea pushes down on Rasp's head and hops out.

Cup Tea showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Rasp tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Tea's elbow.
Rasp tries to pull guard but Tea won't allow it.

Tea breaks from the clinch.
Rasp fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Tea throws a body punch but Rasp moves out of range.
Tea does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Tea lands an overhand right.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rasp looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Rasp moves out of range of the body kick from Tea.
Rasp swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Tea cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Rasp is rocked!
Tea misses with a few strikes there.
Oh Rasp is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
and Tea counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Rasp! He's just covering up as Tea starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
