Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tomoki Sakurai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Blaze Allday!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Fedor Mirinova and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakurai closes this distance looking for a takedown but Allday circles away.

Allday drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Allday tries to free his leg and advance position but Sakurai is retaining full guard.
Allday postures up.
Allday not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Allday wants to stand but Sakurai is controlling his posture from full guard.

Sakurai escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Allday gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Allday wants to stand but Sakurai has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Allday wants to control from the top but Sakurai keeps moving.

Allday tries to free his leg and advance position but Sakurai is retaining full guard.
Allday wants to stand but Sakurai is controlling his posture from full guard.
Sakurai is trying to control the position but Allday postures up.
Allday must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Sakurai shoots for a takedown but Allday saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Allday counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Allday.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tomoki Sakurai. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sakurai is looking for a triangle but Allday pushes his legs off easily.
Sakurai is breathing heavily.

Allday controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

It looks like Allday might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Blaze Allday hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Allday stuffs the takedown.
Allday is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Allday drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Sakurai's face as Allday controls the position.

Allday gets to mount! Sakurai was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Allday content just to control the position here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sakurai bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blaze Allday dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Allday wants to pass the guard but Sakurai is keeping the position.
Allday is stalling in the full guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Allday stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sakurai swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Allday's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Blaze Allday wasn't active enough on the ground.
Allday lands with a slapping head kick.
Sakurai shoots for a double leg takedown but Allday sprawls well. He's pushed Sakurai's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Allday is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Allday gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Allday is breathing heavily.
Sakurai avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Allday.

Sakurai is controlling Allday's position as best he can from this difficult position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Allday looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Allday trying to control the action but Sakurai is working from the bottom.
Allday is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Allday is looking for a kimura here.
Sakurai gets full guard.

Allday trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Sakurai manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Sakurai got a little sloppy there for a moment and Allday has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sakurai has managed to get both his arms back between Allday's legs - danger averted.
Allday looking for a sweep. Not yet Allday, not yet.
Sakurai passes Allday's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Sakurai prevents Allday from standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Allday is in trouble now - Sakurai has advanced to mount!
Sakurai can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Allday is looking to escape.

Sakurai swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Tomoki Sakurai!
