PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hiromitsu Tanaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dmitry Timonyn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Timonyn has chosen Cryin' Like A Bitch!! as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Timonyn does no damage.
Tanaka misses with a wild combination.
Tanaka tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Timonyn paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Timonyn lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tanaka circles away quickly and effectively.
Timonyn throws a right and a left that Tanaka avoids nicely.

and Timonyn counters with a shoot takedown. Tanaka fights it but they end up in guard.
Timonyn prevents Tanaka from getting back to his feet.

Timonyn gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Tanaka tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Timonyn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Timonyn lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Tanaka has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Tanaka and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Tanaka fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Tanaka tries to close the distance and clinch but Timonyn swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Tanaka throws a nice outside leg kick.
Timonyn pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Tanaka back to the cage. Timonyn follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Timonyn swats away the attempt to clinch by Tanaka.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Timonyn crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Tanaka - the referee stops the clock and Timonyn gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Tanaka. Timonyn manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Tanaka thows a body kick. Timonyn tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Timonyn throws a right hand that Tanaka ducks under and follows up with a left that Tanaka also avoids with ease.
No joy there for Timonyn, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Tanaka closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Timonyn did well to prevent Tanaka getting side control.

Tanaka takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Tanaka lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Timonyn is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Tanaka scores with a couple of nice shots.

Timonyn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tanaka gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Timonyn is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Tanaka is controlling him.
Tanaka scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Tanaka stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Timonyn swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Tanaka with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Timonyn pushes a forearm under Tanaka's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Tanaka is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

After the fight, Dmitry Timonyn was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
