The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a two punch combination.
O Shaunessy shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Smith rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but O Shaunessy moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Smith tries to bum rush O Shaunessy with a series of wild strikes but O Shaunessy uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Smith throws a leg kick that misses.
O Shaunessy slaps away a takedown attempt from Smith, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Smith throws a low kick but it's checked well by O Shaunessy.
Smith wants to land a leg kick but O Shaunessy is out of range.
Smith wants to clinch.
A combination from Smith does no damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and O Shaunessy counters with a low kick, right behind Smith 's knee.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch but O Shaunessy swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
O Shaunessy fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Smith stuffs the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Eldar Smith will probably get the nod.

O Shaunessy throws a leg kick which misses Smith's front leg but catches the back leg as Smith tries to avoid it.
O Shaunessy will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
O Shaunessy misses with a wild body shot.
Smith tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. O Shaunessy manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
O Shaunessy misses with an uppercut. Smith saw that one coming.
Smith stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Smith wants it to stay on the feet.
O Shaunessy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but O Shaunessy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Eldar Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sheamus O Shaunessy.
Smith fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches O Shaunessy on the side of the head.

Smith drops O Shaunessy with a beautiful combination! O Shaunessy stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Smith is looking for the KO!

It looks like Sheamus O Shaunessy has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Smith looks to land a combination but O Shaunessy avoids it well.
O Shaunessy is still on wobbly legs! Can Smith finish him?
O Shaunessy walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles O Shaunessy limp body while Smith jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!
