PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yordle Teemo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Solomon Tait (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Solomon Tait was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Yordle Teemo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Solomon Tait!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tait misses with an uppercut. Teemo saw that one coming.
Tait tried to score with a low kick but Teemo checks it.
Teemo thows a body shot but no joy.

Teemo bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Teemo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Teemo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Teemo tries to move into full mount but can't pass Tait's legs.
Teemo trying to control the position but Tait is working away.
Teemo fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Teemo creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Tait sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Teemo is trying to ground and pound but Tait uses the momentary lack of control by Teemo to regain half guard.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Tait has eaten all the pies!
Tait wants to control but Teemo is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Teemo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tait does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Teemo works his foot free and advances to mount.
Teemo controlling the pace for now.
Teemo fails to move to back control.

Teemo working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Tait is looking to improve his position but Teemo isn't that keen on the idea.
Teemo breaks from Tait's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Teemo postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Tait looks a forlorn figure.
Teemo looking to ground and pound but Tait is blocking nicely.

Teemo breaks from Tait's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Teemo goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Tait is on top in guard.
Teemo pulls Tait in close to his closed guard and prevents Tait from doing any damage or advancing position.
Tait trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Tait won't allow Teemo to get back to his feet.
Teemo has control of Tait's left arm, preventing Tait from doing any damage.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Solomon Tait wasn't active enough on the ground.
Teemo moves out of range of the leg kick from Tait.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Tait gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Tait looking for a sweep. Not yet Tait, not yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Tait lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Teemo circles away quickly and effectively.
Tait misses with a hook

and Teemo counters with a single leg into guard. Tait didn't expect that.
Tait not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Teemo in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Teemo pushes down on Tait's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Teemo is trying to control. Tait wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Yordle Teemo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Teemo is working for an americana but Tait has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Teemo was thinking about the submission.
Tait looking to hit a scissor sweep but Teemo is one step ahead there.
Teemo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Teemo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Teemo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Teemo drops back, looking for a kneebar! Tait looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Tait looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Tait!
Tait wants to lay and pray for a moment but Teemo keeps working.

Teemo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Teemo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tait wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Teemo keeping hold of Tait's head, controlling as best he can.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Teemo tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Tait has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Tait tries to push Teemo's head away but Teemo is holding on tight.
Tait won't let Teemo get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tait can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Teemo is looking to escape.
Teemo holds on, trying desperately to control.

Solomon Tait seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tait shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Tait looks to land a right hand but Teemo moved out of range.
Tait will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Tait is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Teemo asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Yordle Teemo.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Teemo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
