Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hideo Kono (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kira Miyata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miyata is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by NANO - no pain, no game. Kira Miyata has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hideo Kono!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kira Miyata!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kono pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Hideo Kono seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Miyata cracks Kono with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Kono lands a nice shot to the body.
Kono fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Miyata on the side of the head.
Miyata looks to land a left hand but Kono moved out of range nicely.
Kono jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Nice defenses there by Miyata.
Miyata bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Miyata takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Kono cracks Miyata with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kono throws a series of strikes that have Miyata backpedaling.


It looks like Kira Miyata has been cut.
Miyata gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Kono.
Kono throws a body punch but Miyata moves out of range.
Kono misses with a hook. Miyata ducked under it nicely.
Kono is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Miyata.
Kono pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kono tries a head kick but it misses.

Kono just misses with a punch to the body.
Kono tests Miyata's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Kono throws a combination that misses

and Miyata counters with a takedown into side control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Kono stops Miyata from passing to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miyata is still trying to improve position.
You can see the frustration on Kono's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Kono slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Kono is trying to maintain the position but Miyata is very close to passing his half guard.

Miyata is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kono doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Miyata.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Miyata looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Miyata prevents Kono from improving his position.
Kono trying to control from the bottom.
Miyata is pressing down on Kono's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kono is holding on for now.

Miyata is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kono has managed to free his arm - good work.
Kono pushes Miyata off looking to stand but Miyata dives back in and keeps control.
Kono is controlling Miyata's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Kono is looking for a sweep. Miyata is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

A looping hook to the body misses from Kono. Miyata does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kono goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Kono misses with a few strikes there.
Kono tests Miyata's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Miyata moves out of range of the strikes.
Kono fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Miyata swings for the body but Kono moves out of range.
A jab from Kono misses.
Miyata has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kono finds it's way round the side to connect with Miyata's head.

Kono is trying to control but can't.
Kono is not content to let Miyata control the position.

Kono is looking to control Miyata's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kono avoid being mounted?

Miyata is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kono defends it well.

Miyata is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Kono to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kono shrugs it off.

Kono swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Kono ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Miyata moves away.
Kono throws a hook to the side of Miyata's head but Miyata sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
The fighters circling - Kono throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

and Miyata moves into the clinch.
Kono is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Kono is trying to push Miyata away but Miyata has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Miyata as Kono tries to tie him up.

Miyata tries to pull guard but Kono won't allow it.
Miyata drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kono pulls his leg out and moves away.
Miyata shoots for a double leg takedown but Kono sprawls well. He's pushed Miyata's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hideo Kono has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kira Miyata.

Kono throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Kono throws a right hand that Miyata ducks under and follows up with a left that Miyata also avoids with ease.

and Miyata holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Miyata has Kono pressed against the cage, preventing Kono from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Kono escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kono throws a series of punches but Miyata moves out of range.

Miyata is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kono is aware though and is defending well.
