I think McBride might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to For whom the bell tolls. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul McBride!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tommy Thunder!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McBride avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
McBride has a takedown stuffed.

McBride closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Thunder is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on McBride's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Thunder tries to get to full guard but McBride has control of the leg.
McBride wants to free his trapped foot but Thunder is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Thunder is working for a guillotine from mount but McBride frees his head quite easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McBride wants to hold on but Thunder pushes him away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

McBride is squirming around, avoiding Thunder's attempts to control the action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Thunder moves into range and clinches up with McBride.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for McBride.
Thunder lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt McBride or not.
Thunder stalling against the cage.
McBride is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Thunder gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
McBride can't get the takedown.
Thunder with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Thunder takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Thunder throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but McBride blocks it with crossed arms.
McBride is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

McBride closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Thunder to the mat! Thunder manages to get full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McBride is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Thunder is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Thunder has escaped and now he's on top!
Thunder postures up in McBride's guard and throws a big left but McBride blocks it.

Thunder wants to control from the top but McBride keeps moving.
Thunder is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

McBride wants to sweep here but Thunder controlling him for the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Thunder lands a jab-cross combination.
McBride shoots in but no luck this time.
McBride throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Thunder's waist but Thunder gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McBride off to one side.

McBride closes this distance looking for a takedown but Thunder circles away.
Thunder tries to clinch there but McBride circles away.
Paul McBride seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thunder tries a head kick but it misses.
Thunder rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McBride moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Thunder is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
McBride tries to break the clinch but Thunder is controlling the position.

McBride is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Thunder keeps control of McBride as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Thunder lands a damaging elbow.
McBride is pressed up against the cage. Thunder has hold of a leg and is looking to drag McBride down to the mat. McBride avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
McBride clobbers Thunder with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

McBride looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Thunder!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, McBride cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That was a close second round but I would say that Paul McBride will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


McBride swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Thunder counters with an inside leg kick.
A punch combination from McBride misses.
McBride throws a right and a left that both miss.
Thunder will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
McBride shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Thunder connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Thunder has McBride up against the cage in a clinch.
Thunder lands an elbow inside.
McBride tries to score a body lock takedown but Thunder shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul McBride. That's going to take a lot out of him.

McBride has gone for a leg lock! Thunder slips out almost immediately though and dives into McBride's guard.

McBride has his foot on Thunder's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Thunder works his way back into a safe position though.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

McBride closes the distance but Thunder moves to the side

McBride trying to remain calm as Thunder controls from the top position.
Thunder wants to lay and pray for a moment but McBride keeps working.
Thunder creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Thunder grinds an elbow into McBride's temple.
McBride tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Thunder wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Thunder tries to clinch but McBride moves out of range.
McBride shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Thunder but Thunder pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Thunder moves into the clinch successfully.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tommy Thunder comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Thunder has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
