Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Sherk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve McDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonald throws a right and a left that Sherk avoids nicely.

Sherk has dropped down and is working for a takedown. McDonald is trying to keep an underhook but Sherk manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Sherk is taking a breather. McDonald says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

We're going to have a standup here because Dave Sherk wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Sherk takes the fight into the clinch.
McDonald has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sherk is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Dave Sherk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve McDonald.

Sherk is trying to work for a single leg takedown but McDonald pulls him back up using the underhooks.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McDonald stands up over Sherk, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sherk bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McDonald's guard.
McDonald controls Sherk momentarily but Sherk frees himself.

McDonald wants to get back to his feet but Sherk is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Sherk decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Sherk closes this distance looking for a takedown but McDonald circles away.

A jab-cross combination lands for McDonald and sends Sherk crashing to the mat! McDonald follows him down to the mat - Sherk regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

Sherk has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McDonald is working away from the top position though.

McDonald lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Sherk quite badly. Sherk pulls McDonald in close trying to recover. McDonald postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Sherk on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Sherk doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
