PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fuzzy Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Agrippa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcus Agrippa!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan throws a series of strikes that have Agrippa backpedaling.

It looks like Marcus Agrippa has been cut.
Khan tries to clinch but Agrippa moves away

and Agrippa holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Agrippa breaks the clinch.
Khan fails in his attempt to clinch.
Khan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Agrippa manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Khan throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Agrippa's head.
Agrippa closes this distance looking for a takedown but Khan circles away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Agrippa closes the distance and clinches.
Khan is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Agrippa is defending well for now.
Agrippa tries to score a body lock takedown but Khan shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Khan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Khan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Agrippa gets a clinch.
Agrippa tries to pull guard but Khan forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Fuzzy Khan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Agrippa.

Agrippa gets control of Khan's arms and successfully pulls guard. Agrippa will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Agrippa manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Khan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Agrippa manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Agrippa swats away the attempt to clinch by Khan.

Agrippa closes the distance and pushes Khan back into the cage.
Khan has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Agrippa striking off his back but it's not causing Khan any problems.
Agrippa has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Agrippa is holding Khan down, trying to stall.
Agrippa wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Agrippa tries to buck Khan off but Khan is having none of it.
Khan in side control, just content to control the action for now.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Agrippa can do anything to dispel that myth.

You can see the frustration on Agrippa's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Agrippa shoots for a takedown but Khan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Agrippa misses with a body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Fuzzy Khan will probably get the nod.

Khan darts in trying to clinch

and Agrippa counters by moving into the clinch.
Khan can't break the clinch.
Nice elbow from Khan.
Khan gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Khan using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Agrippa has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Agrippa pulls guard.
Khan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Khan wants to control from the top but Agrippa keeps moving.
Khan stays in close to Agrippa's body and controls the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Fuzzy Khan.
Agrippa shoots for a double leg takedown but Khan sprawls well. He's pushed Agrippa's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Agrippa counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Agrippa drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Agrippa is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Fuzzy Khan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Agrippa.

Agrippa has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Khan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Khan can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.

Agrippa is breathing heavily.
Khan gets through Agrippa's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Agrippa takes a knee right on the jaw!

That has opened up Marcus Agrippa's cut even more.
Khan stalling in the clinch but Agrippa improves position.
Agrippa goes for a takedown in the clinch but Khan prevents it.

Khan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Agrippa circles away from the clinch attempt

and Agrippa counters by clinching up.
Agrippa has had enough of the clinch but Khan keeps him there for the moment.
Khan wants to stall.
Fuzzy Khan has scored more points in the clinch so far.
Agrippa takes an elbow to the temple.
Agrippa is trying to pull guard but Khan has him pressed against the cage.
Agrippa slowing the pace effectively.

Khan tries to clinch but Agrippa is having none of it.

Khan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Agrippa paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Agrippa will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Agrippa shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Khan counters with a body kick that stops Agrippa in his tracks momentarily.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Khan tries to clinch up but Agrippa circles away and keeps his distance.

Khan lands a big head kick that sends Agrippa tumbling to the mat! Khan takes a step backwards and waves Agrippa back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Agrippa is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Khan tries to close the distance and clinch but Agrippa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Agrippa is still on wobbly legs! Can Khan finish him?
Khan throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Agrippa crumples to the floor and the fight is over!
