The crowd seem to be enjoying Trevally's choice of entrance music: Thunderstruck. Axel VanRoth has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Axel VanRoth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gavin Trevally!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jorge Garcia and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Trevally clinches.
VanRoth lands a right hand.


It looks like Gavin Trevally has been cut.

VanRoth drags the fight down to the ground.

VanRoth working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Trevally has passed into half guard!
VanRoth wants to control but Trevally is keeping busy.

Trevally looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Trevally is looking to take a break and control but VanRoth is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
VanRoth controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
VanRoth makes his way to full guard. A much better position for VanRoth.
VanRoth throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Trevally trying to control but VanRoth is working from the bottom.

Trevally drops back looking for a leg! VanRoth is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and VanRoth manages to kick Trevally off! Trevally jumps back into VanRoth's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

VanRoth is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
VanRoth keeping moving, preventing Trevally from controlling successfully.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Trevally is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Trevally trying to control but VanRoth is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

VanRoth gets the takedown into side control.
Trevally sneaks back into half guard.
Trevally on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

VanRoth is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Trevally has managed to free his arm - good work.

VanRoth is working for a kimura but Trevally is defending it quite comfortably.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Trevally wants to control but VanRoth is keeping busy and won't allow it.
VanRoth missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
VanRoth sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Trevally defending well though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
VanRoth trying to mount his opponent but Trevally defends it.
VanRoth is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Axel VanRoth dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Gavin Trevally's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Trevally fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

VanRoth fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Trevally, pushing him back against the cage.

VanRoth pulls guard.

Trevally thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Trevally trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

VanRoth looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Trevally is defending well. VanRoth quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Trevally has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! VanRoth celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Axel VanRoth!
