PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Max Mega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Adebesi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mega's entrance music is Black and Yellow. A fine choice. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Mega!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Simon Adebesi!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adebesi fails to land with a series of punches.
Adebesi avoids a punch combination nicely.
Adebesi scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Adebesi throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mega.
Adebesi misses with a telegraphed body shot
letting Mega counter with a right hand.

Mega feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Adebesi is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mega is controlling him.
Mega is pushing down on Adebesi's leg trying to pass to half guard. Adebesi is fighting to maintain full guard but Mega has managed to sneak the leg through.

Mega lands strikes from half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mega thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Adebesi's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Adebesi won't allow Mega to pass to mount.
Adebesi tries to kick Mega off in order to stand up. Mega Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Mega stands up and we're back to a striking position.

and Mega counters with a three punch combo that has Adebesi backing up. Adebesi nods at Mega to acknowledge the strikes.
Mega throws a series of punches but Adebesi moves out of range.

Mega prevents Adebesi from getting back to his feet.
Mega trying to control but Adebesi is working from the bottom.
Adebesi wants to get back to his feet but Mega is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Mega in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Max Mega wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Mega scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Adebesi jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Mega lands the left hand.
Mega lands a lovely overhand right.
Mega slips a straight right by Adebesi.
Adebesi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mega circles away quickly and effectively.
Adebesi misses with a double jab.
Adebesi swings for the body but Mega moves out of range.
Mega slips a jab and a cross from Adebesi.
Mega walks into a stiff left hand from Adebesi.
Mega lands with a right that hurts Adebesi. Adebesi looks to clinch but Mega throws a short knee that drops Adebesi. This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch and Knee). Max Mega!
A relieved looking Max Mega thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
