Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jarred Ripp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Cote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David Cote looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jarred Ripp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Cote!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cote pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cote looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Cote has taken the fight to the clinch.
Cote prevents a takedown attempt there.
Cote wants to get back to striking at distance but Ripp won't allow it.
Ripp is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Cote is defending well.

Cote has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Ripp is trying to keep an underhook but Cote manages to get the takedown into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Ripp trying to control here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cote controlling the pace.
Ripp tries to roll over but Cote keeps him under control.

Ripp has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cote is working away from the top position though.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Ripp throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ripp fails with a takedown attempt.

and Cote counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Ripp!

Cote throws an elbow but Ripp slips to the side and avoids it well.
Ripp wants to control but Cote postures up.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Cote is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ripp has escaped the position, nice work there.

Ripp is holding Cote down, trying to stall.
Ripp defending against the ground and pound.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cote trying to control the position but Ripp is working away.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ripp tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cote sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ripp somewhat.
Ripp misses with a takedown attempt - Cote sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Jarred Ripp seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cote gets a double leg takedown into Ripp's guard.
Cote wants to control from the top but Ripp keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cote seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ripp tries to free his leg and advance position but Cote is retaining full guard.

Ripp thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Ripp drops back looking for a leg! Cote is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cote manages to kick Ripp off! Ripp jumps back into Cote's guard.

Ripp is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cote is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cote has escaped and now he's on top!

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. David Cote wasn't active enough on the ground.
Cote avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
No luck for Ripp with that takedown attempt.

Cote fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ripp, pushing him back against the cage.

Cote manages to pull guard.
Ripp won't allow Cote to get back to his feet.
Cote keeping full guard, as Ripp tries to pass.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cote wants to get back to his feet but Ripp is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

David Cote showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Ripp shoots for a double leg takedown but Cote sprawls well. He's pushed Ripp's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Cote bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

David Cote comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
