Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jon Hallquist (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dustin Barton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jon Hallquist!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dustin Barton!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hallquist misses with a two punch combination.

Barton gets a clinch.

Hallquist is fighting off a takedown attempt but Barton is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hallquist to the mat. Hallquist regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Hallquist is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Barton pulls his head out easily.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barton trying to control but Hallquist is having none of it.

Barton avoids the attempt from Hallquist to control.
Barton prevents Hallquist from getting the reversal.
Barton takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Barton wants to control the pace but Hallquist is squirming around nicely.
Hallquist is looking to get to half guard.
Hallquist is breathing heavily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hallquist has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Barton's lack of action.
Barton works his way into side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

I really don't envy Hallquist right now.

Hallquist is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Barton trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

Hallquist manages to stand up with Barton still on his back. Eventually Barton drops to his feet and we're back in the standing position.

Barton lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hallquist takes a step back to recover.
Barton looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hallquist is fending him off so far but Barton persists. Nope, Hallquist circles away and we're back to standing.

Hallquist moves forwards but Barton connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Dustin Barton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Hallquist tries to score a body lock takedown but Barton shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Barton lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Barton closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Barton is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hallquist has escaped the position, nice work there.
Hallquist takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Hallquist can't do much from the bottom here.

Barton decides to stand back up. Barton steps back and let's Hallquist get back to his feet.

Barton lands a right hand that snaps the head of Hallquist backwards.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Barton creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Barton manages to break the clinch.

Barton works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hallquist holds on and takes a little breather.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Barton wants to get up but he can't break Hallquist's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Barton gets to his feet - Hallquist follows without any prompting.

Barton drives through and clinches with Hallquist against the cage.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Hallquist will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hallquist had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Barton is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Hallquist Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Barton's back instead.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Even with his hooks in, Hallquist manages to miss with strikes from the back.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hallquist tries to get the hooks in deep but Barton pushed the leg off.

Hallquist thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Barton to regain full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Dustin Barton comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Barton has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
