The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hicks misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Perez.
Perez avoids the body shot from Hicks.
Perez lands a front kick.
Perez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
A right-left combo lands from Hicks.

Hicks throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hicks throws a nice looking combination but Perez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Perez throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Perez turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Hicks rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Perez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Perez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hicks, pushing him back against the cage.
Hicks has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Perez.
Hicks jumps guard but Perez stands there with Hicks around his waist. Hicks gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Hicks throws a combination that misses
and Perez counters with an outside leg kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hicks jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Perez walks away with a smile on his face. Hicks gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Perez makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Hicks really felt that one!

Perez lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hicks takes a step back to recover.

Hicks throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hicks stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Perez.
Hicks swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Perez.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Perez fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Hicks lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Good leg kick by Perez there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hicks chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Perez can pounce on him.
Perez connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Hicks! He's out on his feet! Perez rushes in and drops Hicks with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
