PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hakon Hakonda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hakonda comes to the cage accompanied by Satyricon - Mather North. Brian Mason told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Saam Ante and Patrick Alders.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hakonda tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hakonda shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mason but Mason pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mason shoots in and drives through. Hakonda sprawls well.
Hakonda tries a head kick but it misses.

Mason shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Mason working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

It looks like Hakon Hakonda has been cut.
Hakonda avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Mason stays in close to Hakonda's body and controls the position.
Mason connects with a couple of short punches.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mason thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mason winds up and cracks Hakonda with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Mason tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hakonda knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Hakonda makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Mason fails with a takedown attempt.
Mason shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hakonda as he jumps to the side.
Hakon Hakonda has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Mason.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Mason.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mason scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Hakonda is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Mason can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
