The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poirie fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Emaus Tamei seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Poirie takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Poirie has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Tamei.

Poirie on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Tamei throws a head kick but Poirie moves out of range.
Poirie shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Diego Poirie's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Poirie walks forward, straight into a front kick from Tamei.
Crunch! Tamei slams his shin into Poirie's torso.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Poirie takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
