Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hoden Mumps (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Douglass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Hoden Mumps!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Johnny Douglass!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Atkins and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Douglass looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Douglass trying to control but Mumps is working from the bottom.

Douglass seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Mumps is looking to stand back up but Douglass counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Mumps.
Mumps tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Douglass controlling the position easily from mount.
Douglass can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mumps is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Douglass looking to control and managing it successfully.

Douglass trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Despite being in the dominant position, Johnny Douglass just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mumps closes this distance looking for a takedown but Douglass circles away.
Mumps is breathing heavily.

Douglass fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mumps, pushing him back against the cage.
Douglass tries a knee to the head but Mumps blocks it.
Mumps gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Douglass.
Mumps is working for takedown but Douglass is calmly controlling the position for now.
Douglass landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Mumps avoiding damage as Douglass throws knees to the body.
Douglass misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Douglass tries to pull guard but Mumps holds him up against the cage and eventually Douglass drops back down to his feet.
Mumps stops a takedown attempt from Douglass.
Hoden Mumps has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Douglass.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Douglass landing some nice looking knees to the body.

Douglass has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Mumps clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Douglass is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Mumps has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Mumps could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Mumps covering up well under a barage of strikes.

Johnny Douglass dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mumps thows a body shot but no joy.
Mumps avoids the body shot from Douglass.
Johnny Douglass seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Douglass misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Mumps clinches with his opponent.
Mumps misses with a short punch on the inside.
Mumps scores with a nice hook to the head.
Douglass wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Douglass wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mumps has him pressed against the cage.
Mumps has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Douglass avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Douglass has had enough of the clinch but Mumps keeps him there for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mumps wants to get back to striking at distance but Douglass won't allow it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Douglass is breathing heavily.
Mumps wants to control from the top but Douglass keeps moving.
Mumps slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Mumps working away.
Mumps wants to control for a moment but Douglass uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Douglass. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Douglass seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mumps does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Mumps pushes Douglass off looking to stand but Douglass dives back in and keeps control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Douglass trying to control the action but Mumps is working from the bottom.
Douglass is taking a breather. Mumps says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Mumps works his way to full guard. Good work.
Mumps wants to control the position but Douglass says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Mumps trying to control but Douglass postures up.
Mumps is looking to improve his position.
Mumps makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mumps.

Mumps is trying to control the position but Douglass postures up.
Douglass tries to free his leg and advance position but Mumps is retaining full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mumps is on top in guard.

Mumps pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Douglass is keeping the position for now.
Mumps is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mumps gets to his feet - Douglass follows without any prompting.
Douglass circles away from the clinch attempt

and Douglass counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Mumps is looking to stand back up but Douglass counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Mumps.

A close second round but Johnny Douglass will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Douglass is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mumps doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Douglass.

Douglass takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Douglass tries to move into full mount but can't pass Mumps's legs.

Mumps is trying to improve his position.
Douglass just content to control the position.
Mumps is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Douglass asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Johnny Douglass has got the better of the ground game so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

You can see the frustration on Mumps's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Douglass rushes Mumps and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Mumps escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Mumps seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Mumps decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Douglass thows a body shot but no joy.
Mumps darts in trying to clinch
and Douglass counters with a two punch combo.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mumps throws a solid leg kick but Douglass takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Mumps.
Mumps wants to clinch but Douglass slips to the side

and Douglass counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Douglass.

Mumps drags the fight down to the ground.
Hoden Mumps has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mumps tries to land a sweep but no joy.

And that's the end of the fight!
Johnny Douglass comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Douglass has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
