Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fujika Kaguchi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob Franklin!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Damien Edna and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franklin shoots in for a takedown but Kaguchi shows good takedown defense.

Franklin shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Franklin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kaguchi is just riding it out for now. Franklin eventually gives up the hold.

Franklin is nestled in close to Kaguchi, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Bob Franklin.

Kaguchi gets caught flat footed, as Franklin shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Kaguchi has his foot on Franklin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Franklin works his way back into a safe position though.
Kaguchi can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Franklin controls the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bob Franklin was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Franklin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Franklin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kaguchi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Well, if Franklin is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Kaguchi gets caught napping as Franklin dives in and scores a takedown. Kaguchi manages to retain guard.

Kaguchi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Franklin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Franklin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kaguchi is looking for a triangle but Franklin pushes his legs off easily.
Kaguchi is looking to sweep but instead, Franklin has passed into half guard.
Franklin is keen to just control but Kaguchi is a slippery customer.
Franklin winds up and cracks Kaguchi with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Franklin seems to be working for a kimura but Kaguchi defends the submission attempt.
Bob Franklin has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kaguchi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Franklin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Franklin is looking to take a break and control but Kaguchi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Franklin is taking a breather. Kaguchi says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Franklin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kaguchi sprawls well initially but Franklin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Kaguchi shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Franklin's guard.

Kaguchi drops back, looking for a kneebar! Franklin looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Franklin looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Franklin!
