PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Abel Speed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Latka Gravas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Speed's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Limp Bizkit / Break Stuff. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 26 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Latka Gravas!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gravas thuds his shin into the meat of Speed's side.
Speed shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gravas as he jumps to the side.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Gravas.
Speed looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Speed moves out of range of the strikes.
Nice body punch from Speed.
Gravas tries to land a leg kick but Speed saw it coming and moves away.
Speed changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gravas tries to avoid it but Speed manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gravas to the ground. Gravas escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Abel Speed. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gravas throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Speed dives in and grabs Gravas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gravas pushes down on Speed's head and hops out.

Speed shoots in looking for a takedown but Gravas manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Speed's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Latka Gravas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Speed throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gravas's waist but Gravas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Speed off to one side.

Gravas connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Gravas lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Speed moves forwards but Gravas connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Gravas bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Speed's head backwards.
Gravas lands a nice leg kick that just misses Speed's sensitive parts.
Gravas turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Speed dives in and grabs Gravas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gravas pushes down on Speed's head and hops out.
Gravas lands with an uppercut that bounces Speed off the cage and back into range.
Speed has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Speed there as he acknowledges the shot.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Speed's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Gravas connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Speed scrambles back to his feet.
Speed takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Gravas throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Latka Gravas dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Gravas takes a swing at Speed's ribcage but misses.
Gravas fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Speed has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Gravas turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Speed rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gravas moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Speed avoids the head kick by Gravas.
Gravas slaps away a takedown attempt from Speed, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Gravas stuffs the takedown attempt from Speed. Speed gets slowly back to his feet.
Gravas throws a leg kick but Speed sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Both fighters circling a little - Gravas finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gravas thows a body kick. Speed tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Gravas cracks Speed with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Gravas has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Speed to stand back up!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Speed takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Latka Gravas seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Gravas cracks Speed with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Speed tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Gravas pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Speed is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
