PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy Randall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Curt LeMae (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Curt LeMae was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Randy Randall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Curt LeMae!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
LeMae swings for the body but Randall moves out of range.
LeMae moves out of range of the strikes.
LeMae wants to clinch up but Randall keeps it at a distance.
Randall circles away from the clinch attempt.
LeMae misses with a jab to the body

and Randall counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
LeMae controls Randall momentarily but Randall frees himself.
Randall passes into half guard.

Randall is working for a submission of some sort.

Randall is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so LeMae is just riding it out for now. Randall eventually gives up the hold.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Randall looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Randall is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Randall trying to control the pace.

Randall is looking for submissions but instead, LeMae has regained full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
LeMae wants to stand but Randall is controlling the position.
LeMae looking for a sweep. Not yet LeMae, not yet.
LeMae keeping moving, preventing Randall from controlling successfully.
Randall looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Randall trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Randall wants to control from the top but LeMae keeps moving.
Randall might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Randy Randall just wasn't active enough.
LeMae uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Randall.
LeMae scores with a punch to the head.
LeMae jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

LeMae fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Randall, pushing him back against the cage.

LeMae is fighting off a takedown attempt but Randall is just too persistent for him and manages to trip LeMae to the mat. LeMae regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Randall is pushing down on LeMae's leg trying to pass to half guard. LeMae is fighting to maintain full guard but Randall has managed to sneak the leg through.

LeMae trying to hold on to Randall's head to control him but Randall postures up.
LeMae tries to get to full guard but Randall has control of the leg.

LeMae kicks off Randall and gets to his feet.
Randall throws a jab when LeMae was well out of range.
Randall lands an overhand right.
LeMae slips under a jab.
LeMae scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
LeMae avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
LeMae doesn't manage to clinch there - Randall circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randy Randall dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Randall lunges at LeMae with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by LeMae's hand.
Randall shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. LeMae defends it nicely.
Randall throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Randall shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has LeMae pinned against the cage. LeMae gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Randall circles away from the clinch attempt.
LeMae connects with a right hand. Randall shakes it off.
LeMae thows a body shot but no joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Randall avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Randall swats away the attempt to clinch by LeMae.
Randy Randall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Randall avoids the head kick by LeMae.

LeMae closes the distance and clinches.
Randall tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Randy Randall. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Randall breaks from the clinch.
Randall is looking to score with low kicks.
LeMae throws a nice inside leg kick.
LeMae looks to clinch

and Randall counters with a nice double leg into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
LeMae not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Randall tries to free his leg and advance position but LeMae is retaining full guard.

Randall drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but LeMae manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Randall has LeMae in his guard.
LeMae must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
LeMae would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Randall is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. LeMae is aware though and is defending well.
Randall looking to hit a scissor sweep but LeMae is one step ahead there.

LeMae stands up and waves to Randall to follow him.
Some bone on bone action there as Randall checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

LeMae is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Randall loads up on a big right hand but LeMae slips the punch.
LeMae stuffs the takedown attempt from Randall. Randall gets slowly back to his feet.
LeMae has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Randall.
Randall swings for the body but LeMae moves out of range.
Curt LeMae seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Randall on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Randall shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Randall throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. LeMae tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Randall is in LeMae's guard.

Randall is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! LeMae is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! LeMae has escaped and now he's on top!
This has been an exciting period of action!
LeMae wants to get up but he can't break Randall's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
LeMae trying to control but Randall is working from the bottom.

Randall working for a triangle but LeMae defends it easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Randall is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Randy Randall will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

and LeMae counters with a straight right hand.
LeMae looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Randall uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by LeMae.

LeMae gets caught flat footed, as Randall shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Randall tries to free his leg and advance position but LeMae is retaining full guard.
LeMae manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Randall manages to get himself to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
LeMae engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
LeMae wants to stand but Randall is controlling his posture from full guard.
Randall controls LeMae momentarily but LeMae frees himself.
Randall keeping moving, preventing LeMae from controlling successfully.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Randall working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. LeMae doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. LeMae manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

LeMae would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Randall is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
LeMae wants to control from the top but Randall keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Curt LeMae was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Randall takes a swing at LeMae's ribcage but misses.
Curt LeMae is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

LeMae avoids the body shot from Randall.
A punch combination from LeMae misses.
LeMae uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Randall.
Randall throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
LeMae tries to clinch but Randall is having none of it.
Randall misses with a left hand
and LeMae counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Randall tries for a takedown but LeMae sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - LeMae looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Randall scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

A big right from Randall misses.
Randall throws a hook but LeMae avoids it easily.
Randall swings and misses with a hook to the body.
LeMae tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Randall manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

LeMae gets caught napping as Randall dives in and scores a takedown. LeMae manages to retain guard.
LeMae is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Randall works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Randall is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Curt LeMae has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Randall is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for LeMae!

And that's the end of the fight!
Randy Randall showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Randall, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
