The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes moves out of range as De Gothia strikes.
Hughes misses with an uppercut.
Horrible takedown by De Gothia or perhaps it was just good defense by Hughes which made him look bad.
De Gothia throws a nice looking combination but Hughes bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Hughes throws a right hand that De Gothia ducks under and follows up with a left that De Gothia also avoids with ease.
De Gothia tries for a takedown but Hughes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Arn De Gothia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice sprawl there from Hughes as De Gothia shoots in.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hughes holds on and takes a little breather.

De Gothia drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and De Gothia jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

De Gothia drops back looking for a leg! Hughes is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hughes manages to kick De Gothia off! De Gothia jumps back into Hughes's guard.
Hughes wants to sweep here but De Gothia controlling him for the moment.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hughes can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hughes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with De Gothia. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

De Gothia is working to tighten is grip on Hughes's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Hughes has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but De Gothia is really squeezing tight and eventually Hughes passes out! De Gothia breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
